Thanks for consistently excellent content that elevates numbers over narratives, contextualizing the latter. This expat Canadian has high hopes that your remarks on Canada's opportunities are realized. Alberta's recent 6-fold revision of proven gas reserves to 130 trillion cubic feet is just one indicator of abundance in all energy and mineral resources critical to continued Asian development.

25 years into my oil and gas career as a fifth generation oilman, and I’ve never been more excited to do what we do. The world is finally waking up to the fact that our product isn’t just a “necessary evil”, but rather a fundamental good. We can, should, and do find ways to do that work cleaner and safer, but the work must go on. Thank you, as always for championing common sense on behalf of the other 7 billion. THAT is sustainability!

Thanks for your comments over the years NTX Oilman. I work in the financial sector (including in commodities earlier in my career) and I didn't pay much attention to the oil and gas industry until COVID when I started to become very interested because the narrative about peak demand and the energy transition sounded completely insane to me, and because I saw how we were implementing serious divestment policies that would have to reduce supply in the future. I discovered Superspiked then and I've been a loyal reader ever since.

To this day I still do not understand the antagonism towards the energy industry. In my line I'm used to a general public suspicion of our industry, but with energy it's just at a whole new level of hate, way out of any proportion to real issues. The only way I can explain it is that there are a lot of people, even educated and experienced people who you'd think would know better, who have a deep emotional dislike and suspicion of large industrial processes. If I can paraphrase Lee Raymond: "nobody has done more for the American way of life and received less than the energy industry".

5th generation, wow! nice! I like that line: from "necessary evil to fundamental good". Good stuff.
