Arjun--this is your best yet and a great explanation of what constitutes Energy Pragmatism. You have found your voice and by doing so provide voice for many professionals in the Energy sector who share your views. Pragmatism requires accepting facts at face value and being honest about the reality of energy needs and tradeoffs. We should also be careful this perspective is not re-characterized as abandoning our focus on long term stewardship of the environment and/or minimizing our impact on the Earths energy budget. Business should stick to their knitting--safely, in compliance with regulatory frameworks, and responsive to community preferences where they operate. Your admonishment to stop using words like Clean, green and clean tech are important. As a sector steeped in science and physics, it may also be time to admit the obvious, that humans have little ability (currently) to "stop" climate change. We can prepare, mitigate and minimize human impact but it's the height of hubris to say our actions can stop a cycle that has been in motion since the Earth first cooled.

Thanks again for excellent, thought-provoking content. Personally, it was bizarre trying to work with academic colleagues during 2019-2024, as they often vociferously insisted aggressive policy decisions on net-zero meant fossil/nuclear were finished. The history of public policy suggests policy failure is the norm, but mentioning that placed one in the camp of "climate deniers."
